Tips for Choosing the Fitness Center That's Right for
Need help selecting a fitness center? Here are some things to consider . . . |
| |
– Find a location that's convenient for you – near your home, your office, or somewhere in between depending on when you have time to workout. A convenient location means that you’re more likely to stick with your routine and get your money’s worth out of your membership. The U-Club is centrally located for most Lansing area residents, and just minutes from the major freeways, MSU campus, and downtown. |
– When you visit the center, look at the equipment. Is it well maintained? How old is it? What types of equipment and how many of each is available? If your favorite cardio machine isn’t there it should be a red flag. The U-Club Fitness Center offers a full range of equipment to meet all of your wellness needs. |
– Make sure the facility looks clean and well-maintained. Do they provide supplies to wipe down equipment after use? Are the floors clean? How are the locker rooms kept? How crowded is it? To best judge the capacity of the facility, try visiting during the time you’re most likely to workout. Note how many people are using machines or are in the classes, locker rooms, etc. How extensive are the hours? Are they open at the times when you want to work out? With flexible extensive hours and daily professional cleaning, the U-Club fitness facilities are comfortable, relaxing, spotless and sparkling. |
- Amenities – If you enjoy a sauna or massage after a workout, having those amenities available will be a key factor in your decision. The same goes for childcare services if you have kids.Think about what’s important to you and then find a place that has those amenities. The U-Club Fitness Center offers a full-service Spa, Kidz Club childcare center, sauna, steam room, whirlpool, and more.
- Staff Credentials – Are the staff professionals who will assist you in planning your workouts fully certified? Are they readily available when you need help? Do they call you by name, and remember your goals and health concerns? Does the center require an orientation and health assessment before allowing you to use the equipment? The University Club's degreed, certified fitness professionals are available to guide you in all areas of your fitness development.
| |
- Classes, group activity and special programs – Working out with a group can often provide that extra bit of motivation you need to help you reach your fitness goals. Does the facility offer a variety of group exercise classes and wellness programs, at times of the day when you would be able to participate? Are the classes offered as part of your membership? Are the instructors certified in the programs they are teaching? Observe a group class when you visit the facility, and notice the professionalism and enthusiasm of the instructor.
